Mumbai: Do you get bored easily while running, jogging, or doing any form of exercise and leave itincomplete? Then, you must listen to your favourite music as it can help you not only to complete your exercise but also to increase the time span you have been spending doing it.
Music has the ability to get your mind very quickly into the mode of exercise.
Padma Rao, a PR professional, loves to go for a run early mornings. Listening to music is very important for her as it gives her a big boost. “My running pattern depends a lot on the kind of music I listen to. My running rhythm automatically increases if I am listening to a fast and peppy number from Madonna or Guns N Roses I find myself still running at the same pace after the song is over,” she says.
For actor Rajneesh Duggal, music gives him a high. “Even a double shot of coffee won’t get me up and running like good music, especially Eye of the Tiger. Exercise becomes very dull without music. For example, when I go to Joggers Park with my iPod, I lose track of time when I am running while listening to music; I have to stop and remind myself to go back home,” he smiles.
Fitness expert Leena Mogre advises people to listen to music before and while exercising. “Music can help you administer your exercises without a trainer. It can help you measure the beats of your steps especially in the case of spinning, jogging, running and cycling. If you are feeling low music can provide you instant motivation. To some extent it can help you burn more calories than usual,” she says.
Adds actor Tara Sharma, “Music does lift the mood and makes me feel light, but I do not listen to it while running.”

Slash and his solo band will be recorded at Manchester Academy in Manchester, England on July 3. Abbey Road Live will be there to capture the performance and have it mixed and mastered on-the-fly, specifically for delivery to CD — not to be confused with a “board” mix, which usually just involves plugging into the house sound console and taking their mix.
Each collectible disc set will be offered for $30 (£20) online at this location, or £20 at the show in Manchester. Discs may either be picked up at the end of the show, or shipped home.
In addition to Slash and singer Myles Kennedy (ALTER BRIDGE), other bandmembers that will be featured on the CD set include Bobby Schneck on guitar; Todd Kerns on bass and backing vocals; and Brent Fitz on drums.
Pre-sales for the CDs are happening now at this location, and sales will only continue until all 1,200 CDs are sold.

?Late last week, Dave Navarro let slip via the Jane’s Addiction website that the band will be playing an intimate show “for the fans” at an undisclosed Hollywood venue.
Well, that venue’s been disclosed. On Twitter about an hour ago, Navarro announced, “I’ll be giving away some tickets to see Jane’s at the Roxy on Friday a little later today.”
This only days after the band announced it’s returned to the studio with its new lineup, which places former Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan on drums. Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand) will be producing the as yet untitled new album, which is due out in 2011.
We’ll add more information as it arises. After the jump, Navarro’s original statement about this particular gig.
From the Jane’s Addiction website:
We in Jane’s Addiction have done several intimate LA shows over the past year or so… Little places with 100 or so tickets set aside for the fans. It was tough for a lot of fans to get in even after waiting all day for entry. With all of our friends and family in LA, it’s sometimes hard to accommodate everybody. Well it looks like we are doing another show and we have decided to make this show an event that is mainly for the fans. We are going to strip back the guest list, inviting only our immediate loved ones and let the majority of tickets be made available to the people who have given us so much over the years, the fans.
Image Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty ImagesWhat happened to Lauryn Hill? It’s a question that’s been asked again and again in the last eight years. Hill has yet to follow up her classic 1998 solo debut and underrated 2002 Unplugged set with a second studio album, and she’s given precious few interviews in that time. So kudos are due to NPR’s Zoe Chace for tracking Hill down after her performance at this month’s Harmony Festival and scoring some rare face time with one of music’s most mysterious geniuses.
Asked by Chace why she hasn’t released anything in nearly a decade, Hill actually gave an answer. “There were a number of different reasons,” she’s quoted as saying. “But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it…Oftentimes, I think people are forced [by the music industry] to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates.” That’s a pretty vague explanation, to be sure. But it’s more than we’ve heard from Hill in some time.
More encouraging yet is Hill’s suggestion that she might be moving back toward a fuller performing career. “I have five children,” she told Chace. ”The youngest is two now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be OK… And I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again.”
It’s great to hear those words, even if Hill’s long-suffering fans know better than to get too excited just yet. Check out the full NPR piece and let us know if you’re ready for her to come back.

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman was one of the few notable folks without a 13-year-old tagging along at last night’s Cinema Society screening of Twlight: Eclipse. At that age, the Marchesa designer confessed, she was obsessed with Guns N’ Roses. Due in August, the 34-year-old says her pregnancy has gone smoothly and she feels very good. Any cravings? “Nothing,” Chapman said. “And I’m nearing the end and nothing exciting has happened.” She and husband Harvey Weinstein have not chosen names for the baby girl. “I want to meet her first,” she said, laughing.
