Slash Labels Guns N’ Roses Hall of Fame Reunion ‘Rumor’ – Ultimate Classic Rock

Never one to promote certainty, the members of Guns N’ Roses have once again left fans wondering if a full reunion is likely or even possible when they’re inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Slash doesn’t deny Dizzy Reed’s claim that the band is getting back together for one night in Cleveland, but he hardly confirms it.

“I know that there’s a lot of rumor about it, as always when it comes to GNR, out there on the Internet and stuff, but as it stands right this second, I have no idea what’s going on,” the guitarist said in an interview with Mike Jones of Washington D.C. rock radio station DC101.

The band is being recognized on April 14, and Reed got longtime fans excited last week by saying the entire original band — including Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Slash — would be present. Reed, Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke joined later.

“I know that all the original band is going to be there, I don’t know exactly what’s going to go down,” Reed told Billboard. “It’s one of those things I’m sure will all come together and be really cool. I’m just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart.”

Slash’s deflection of the question is a step up from his angry denial in December. The guitarist did say that he was honored to be included in this class, which includes Donovan, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys and others. “It was very flattering to get that initial phone call to say we were nominated,” he said adding that finding out the band was being inducted was a cherry on an already delicious sundae.

Feb. 20-26 in nightlife: Rick Ross, Blake Shelton, Guns N’ Roses and more – Baltimore Sun (blog)

Judging by this week’s nightlife offerings, Thursday has the most talent. If you missed out on Guns N’ Roses tickets (sorry Axl enthusiasts, if you lost out on tickets), there’s Rick Ross, Islands and White Life to choose from. But there are plenty of options during the other six days, so let’s get on to the most notable events:

On Monday, frat-friendly Connecticut rapper Chris Webby performs at the Ottobar ($18). Just outside of the city, the young Australian pop heart-throb Cody Simpson plays Fillmore Silver Spring ($22.50) and singer-songwriter Ben Lee performs at Rams Head On Stage ($19.50).

On Tuesday, Bronx rapper Fred the Godson performs at the Ottobar ($10). If you’re looking to rage on a Tuesday, Baltimore Soundstage hosts a Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras party without a cover. More info here.

On Wednesday, Amen Dunes and Baltimore’s Mountains (Thrill Jockey) play Golden West Cafe ($7). Grammy-award winning South African singing group Ladysmith Black Mambazo performs at Rams Head On Stage (21+, $39.50).

On Thursday, get ready to dance with local party-starters (and brother-sister duo) White Life at the Ottobar ($8). Baltimore rapper DDm opens. Guns N’ Roses (yes, the real deal and not a tribute band) take the Fillmore Silver Spring stage (sold out). Rick Ross, recently named the Hottest MC in the Game in 2011 by MTV, performs a headlining set at DAR Constitution Hall ($45-$105). R&B singer Jeremih opens, and who knows — D.C.-native and Maybach Music Group artist Wale could show up, too. Islands perform at Metro Gallery ($10).

On Friday, you can celebrate the fact that we’re halfway to summer with East Coast cover-band staples Mr. Greengenes (also performing at Preakness this year), Burnt Sienna and more at Rams Head Live (21+, $20). To put you in the summer mood, Rams Head is bringing in bartenders from popular Dewey Beach bars. Citizen Cope plays a sold-out show at Recher Theatre. Flogging Molly plays Fillmore Silver Spring ($30).

On Saturday, the “metal-meets-classical” band Archaic Revival plays Sonar ($15 in advance/$20 day of). Frequent Roots collaborator Dice Raw performs at the Wind-Up Space ($20/$22). ‘The Voice’ judge Blake Shelton is a recording artist! In case you forgot, he performs at the Patriot Center ($29.75-$54.75) with ‘Voice’ runner-up Dia Frampton opening.

On Sunday, the charming Londonite Estelle brings her R&B/rap hybrid to Baltimore Soundstage ($26/$30). We’ll have a feature on the candid Estelle later this week.

Guns N’ Roses to Stream Concert for Charity – Billboard

Guns N’ Roses will stream this Sunday’s concert at Chicago’s House of Blues, the band announced on Friday.

A $5 fee will provide access to a live stream of the show via the band’s website, with a portion of that going to support hunger relief organization Feeding America. Guns N’ Roses are set to take the stage at 11 p.m. CT.

Fans can expect their money’s worth: the band has been playing lengthy sets on its current club tour, playing a two-and-a-half hour gig in New York on Feb. 10. They’ll launch a European tour in May.

The ironic group’s original lineup will reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 14, though it remains to be seen if its past and present members will perform together once more.

Guns N’ Roses rocks 2012 Fashion Week to a close – New York Daily News

Guns N’ Roses rocked Fashion Week to a close Thursday night.

The DeLeon Tequila & Nur Khan Electric Sessions show brought an A-list crowd to the Hiro Ballroom in Chelsea that included Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, Matt Damon, Justin Timberlake, Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky, Jimmy Fallon, Sienna Miller, Jared Leto and Kellan Lutz.

The band, fronted by a leather and cross-clad Axl Rose, rocked past 2 a.m., played GNR’s greatest hits — with the exception of “November Rain” — and enjoyed a few spirits before hitting the stage around 12:25 a.m.. We spotted Khan bringing the band several bottles of Jagermeister backstage before showtime.

Several songs in, the concert was almost short-circuited by an unruly fan who tossed a drink glass at the band, infuriating guitarist Ron (Bumblefoot) Thal and Rose, who unleashed a volley of epithets at the jerk as security chased the assailant down and tossed him out of the club.

Meanwhile, a pregnant Miller was visibly annoyed by crowd members who were openly smoking cigarattes around her on the main floor. She even appeared to complain to a waitress although the high-decibel concert made it impossible to overhear any conversation.

Later, however, Miller, who we spotted rubbing her belly, seemed to have no problem socializing amid the aroma of pot smoke that seemed to grow stronger the closer one moved to the stage.

Sudeikis was sporting a baseball cap pulled down low in an attempt to keep a low profile and arrived early with friends to hold court a table near the stage and was later joined by gal pal Wilde and Fallon. Clinton, Damon and Timberlake took in the concert from upstairs VIP area. Clinton’s husband, Marc Mezvinsky, affectionately had his arm draped around his wife during the concert as they laughed with friends.

A source tells us when the former first daughter first arrived with her happy hubby, event staffers attempted to clear the table right next to Matt Damon’s to sit the couple. But Clinton apologized to the guests who were seated there who were nearly evacuated, and let event staffers know she didn’t mind squeezing in with her “good friend Matt (Damon).”

Guns N’ Roses Closes Fashion Week for Rabid Fans – New York Magazine (blog)

When Axl shouts, “It’s your host, Sir Fucks a Lot!” the security guard standing to our left, who has been filled in on Peggy’s dream of banging Axl, turns to her and says, “Now’s your chance!” Of course, his job is to keep Peggy from rushing the stage so what could she do, really? Eventually Axl touched hands in the crowd, including hers. And the guitar player — the new not-Slash Slash who looked like Criss Angel but with sleeve tattoos and lip piercings — played his guitar in our faces weirdly sexually all night, so that was something. At one point he licked guitar picks and stuck them to our foreheads, which was awesome at the time (thank you, free tequila) but kind of makes me want a chemical peel today.

All Original Guns N’ Roses Members Will Be at Rock Hall Induction – Billboard

Whether the group plays together or not remains to be seen, but it appears there will be some sort of reunion of Guns ‘N Roses‘ original lineup at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 14 in Cleveland.

“I know that all the original band is going to be there,” keyboardist Dizzy Reed, the longest-standing member of the current GNR and an inductee that night, tells Billboard.com. “I don’t know exactly what’s going to go down. It’s one of those things I’m sure will all come together and be really cool. I’m just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart.”

Fans have been abuzz about whether the GNR crew — which will also include continuing frontman Axl Rose, guitarists Slash, Izzy Stradlin and Gilby Clarke, bassist Duff McKagen and drummers Steven Adler and Matt Sorum — would put aside well-publicized differences at the ceremony and pick up their instruments together. Nobody has said for sure what will happen, and Adler has even expressed open doubts about the possibility. Reed, meanwhile, says it’s not even been a topic of conversation between he and Rose since the Rock Hall’s class of 2012 was announced in December.

“Honestly, we haven’t spoken about it,” Reed says. “I don’t know when or why or how to bring it up. It’s not an every day sort of thing. So we haven’t really talked about it — but I’m sure we’ll have to at some point.”

Reed calls the Rock Hall honor “pretty cool…especially when you think about all the people who are already in and helped make rock ‘n’ roll what it is. It’s a real who’s who of great musicians.” The keyboardist adds that he’s also excited “for the people that have supported Guns ‘N Roses over the years. It’s really cool for them more than anyone else. To me, that’s the most important thing.”

The current GNR, meanwhile, is playing more than celebrating. Following an arena swing in 2011, the group is playing seven club and theater shows, including three in New York City and in Chicago, Detroit, Silver Spring, Md. and Atlantic City. At the group’s Feb. 10 show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Rose and co. tore through a 150-minute set that included their “Appetite for Destruction” hits and some deep cuts from “Chinese Democracy,” leaving the small crowd delighted.

“It’s always cool to change things up like that and be a little more intimate with the crowd,” Reed says. “Obviously we have to scale things down a little bit. The stage won’t be quite as big. Hopefully there won’t be as much pyro — I always feel safer when there’s not.”

GNR will return to bigger spaces in mid-May, when it begins a European tour of arenas and festivals — including the Gods Of Metal weekend in Milan, Italy — although Reed notes that “if they throw in some club shows here and there, I’ve got no complaints. I’m totally into it.”

And how about for work on a follow-up to 2008’s “Chinese Democracy?” “There are some clamoring and rumors that we might be getting some material together here after we do this little (theater) run, so we’ll see what happens,” Reed says. “I just go with the flow. I’m always recording and stuff. If it happens it will be really fun and cool. I love creating stuff with all the guys. And there was so much material that didn’t make it onto (‘Chinese Democracy’). From what I remember there were a lot of really cool songs; I can only hope that some of that stuff does resurface and get worked out.”
